Ahmed Abou Ali combines Egyptian and U.S. legal education and practice. In addition to his experience in maritime and shipping related work, he has particular experience and expertise in the areas of banking, commercial, corporate and capital market laws, mergers, acquisitions, project finance and restructuring, privatization and legislative and economic reforms.
In the U.S., he was involved in several corporate financing, leveraged buy-outs and corporate restructuring as an attorney with the Chicago law firm of Sidley & Austin. In Egypt, he now acts regularly as legal advisor to the boards of several local subsidiaries of multinational companies and Egyptian joint stock companies. He regularly guides boards of directors as to their duties and responsibilities. He handles all aspects of corporate law from incorporation to dissolution, with significant part devoted to corporate governance issues and contractual relations between clients and their business partners, including the areas of securities regulation and mergers and acquisitions.
He has been involved as legal counsel since 1992 in Egypt's privatization and economic reform policy projects funded by USAID and EU programs.
He is licensed to appear before the Supreme Court of Egypt and is a member of the board in several non-governmental organizations.
